MCGC Yearly Match Schedule

MCGC Range is located at 7089 Narrows Road, Pinson, Alabama 35126. The range is open during the following match dates to visitors and every day to club members via access code.

Below is the MCGC Match Schedule for 2024. Please note the following for all matches:

  • Gates open at 7:30 am unless otherwise stated in the Match Information below.
  • Please arrive early to register, pay fees, and ensure you are present for the safety briefing held 15 minutes prior to match start time. Match safety briefings are mandatory and must be attended to compete in the match.
  • Live fire is not permitted before 9:00 am.

Shotgun Trap League Shoot

Location: Trap Fields
Match Director: John Densmore

Regular Trap Shooting: Weekly on Sunday Afternoons at 2:00 p.m. Safety meeting 1:45 pm. Registered ATA Trap Shooting: Monthly on the third Sunday at 9:00 am, March-December. Must be a member of ATA to shoot in third Sunday matches.

Fun 22 Rifle Match

Location: Silhouette Range

Monthly Matches are on the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, January-December.

These are 50-round matches plus any shoot-offs. Ammo is 22 Long Rifle (standard or high velocity) only. Match is open to the first 45 shooters present and registered with match fees paid. Gate opens at 7:30 am with mandatory safety meeting at 8:45 am. Match fee: $5.00 (please bring fee in $1s). A separate shooting classification will be provided for three age groups of Junior shooters (ages up to 17 years old).  An adult must accompany juniors. Ear Protection is recommended and is required for all youth shooters. Eye Protection is required.  Prescription glasses are acceptable.  Safety glasses covering the sides are preferred.

Safari Fun Match

Location: Silhouette Range

Monthly Matches are on the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, January-December.

This is a 22lr Rifle 50-Round Silhouette Target Match open to the first 30 shooters to arrive. Shooter’s choice of propped, bench, prone, or freestanding. Scope is recommended but not required. Gate opens at 7:30 am with mandatory safety meeting at 8:45 am.  Match starts at 9:00 am. Match fee: $5.00 (please bring fee in $1s).  For ages 10-99 (under 18 will require an adult guardian). Ear Protection is recommended and is required for all youth shooters. Eye Protection is required.  Prescription glasses are acceptable.  Safety glasses covering the sides are preferred.

Seniors Tuesday Morning Rimfire Match

Weekly Matches are on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 am. Mandatory safety briefing is 8:45 am.

Fun Pistol

Location: Pistol Range
Match Director: Jerry Davis

Monthly Matches are on the fourth Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, January-October.

This match is designed to be an introduction to pistol shooting in a 90-round NRA Outdoor Conventional Pistol course involving slow and timed fire at 25 yards. Open to the first 30 shooters. All new shooters will have an experienced shooter at their side the entire match. Most people shoot a 22lr, but you are welcome to shoot any safe centerfire pistol that holds a minimum of 5 rounds or your everyday carry gun.  Magnums are discouraged for obvious reasons. Gate opens at 7:30 am with mandatory safety meeting at 8:45 am.  Bring your pistol, 100 rounds of ammo, safety glasses (Prescription glasses are acceptable), hearing protection, pencil or pen, staple gun if you have one (we have a few around), and $5, (preferable singles) for prize money. Prize money will be 50% payback on entry fee to class winners. CMP Sanctioned Precision Pistol/Bullseye (2700) Pistol

Monthly Matches are held on the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, March-October. Special regional and state matches scheduled for May 18-19 and October 19-20 are described below.

Precision Pistol matches are 270-shot competitions normally involving 2 or 3 different pistols with targets placed at 25 and 50 yards. A .22-only category is available. Gates open at 7:30 am with a mandatory safety briefing at 8:45 am. Entry fee is $15.00.  

Alabama State Pistol Championship (May 18-19) Championship CMP-sanctioned 2700 aggregate plus EIC matches for .22 pistol, service pistol and service revolver.

Alabama Regional Pistol Championship (October 19-20) NRA sanctioned 2700 aggregate plus CMP EIC matches for .22 pistol, service pistol, and service revolver.

Small Bore Prone

Location: Rifle Range

Monthly Matches are on the fourth Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, March-October.

March-September matches consist of 120 Shots: 50-yards, Dewar, and 100-yards. October 26 is the NRA Small Bore Prone State Championship consisting of Iron Sites, 160 Shots: 50-yards, 50-Meter, Dewar, and 100-yards. Gates open at 7:30 AM with mandatory safety briefing at 8:45 am.

Small Bore 3-Position

Location: Rifle Range
Match Director: Blake Wingard

Monthly Matches are on the fourth Saturday of each month at 2:00 pm, March-October.

Matches consist of 60 Shots: Prone, Standing, and Kneeling. NRA Small Bore 3-Position State Championship is October 5. It is an Iron Sites 60 Shot Match with 20 shots at each position: Prone, Standing, and Kneeling. Gates open at noon. Mandatory safety briefing begins at 1:45 pm.

Muzzleloading Rifle

Monthly Matches will be held on the first Sunday of each month at 1pm, March-August. April and June are National Championship Aggregate matches.

High Power Rifle

Location: Rifle Range
Match Director: Tommy Gilliam

Monthly Matches are on the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 am, March-November. 

Gates open at 7:30 am with a mandatory safety briefing at 8:30. Any magazine or clip-fed center-fire rifle, capable of holding at least five rounds is acceptable for use in high-power matches.  The rifle may have any sighting system such as iron sights, optics, or red dot. Matches may be canceled if regional competitions fall on the same date as the majority of high-power competitors elect to attend those matches instead of the club match. Matches are normally completed by noon so club members can plan on using the range from noon until sunset on match days.
